Lettered in an uncial alphabet, this classic quote is divided into twelve interlocking rings on a background of interlacing circles. The center contains a colorful knotwork pattern, surrounded by the opening verse and the names of the seasons. These elements form a color wheel, representing the change of seasons, from the fresh greens of spring, to the bright yellows of summer, the deep reds of autumn, and the cool blues of winter.

The borders are some of the most intricate and detailed that Susan has ever created. The primary colors of the seasons are set off by a black background, which forms an elaborate knotwork pattern. Each corner contains a seasonal painting where violets and a robin represent spring, coneflowers, roses, and a butterfly depict summer, grapes stand for autumn, and holly and pinecones symbolize winter.
